On the night of 7th September 2025, the world paused. From Asia to Africa, from Australia to Eastern Europe, billions of people gazed at the sky as the moon slowly turned a fiery red. This wasn’t just another lunar eclipse—it was a rare “Blood Moon” visible to over 7 billion people worldwide, making it one of the most widely observed celestial events in history.

What is a Blood Moon?

A Blood Moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse. As the Earth slips between the sun and the moon, its shadow covers the moon. But instead of disappearing, the moon glows in shades of deep orange and crimson—caused by Earth’s atmosphere bending sunlight. Think of it as the same effect that gives us red sunsets.

The Science Behind the Red Glow

  • ? Rayleigh scattering: Earth’s atmosphere filters out blue light, leaving behind the reddish hues.
  • ?? Sunrise & Sunset effect: All the sunsets and sunrises happening across the Earth at that moment are projected onto the lunar surface.
  • ? Duration: The September 2025 eclipse lasted nearly 82 minutes of totality, one of the longest in recent years.

Why the September 2025 Blood Moon Was Special

  1. Massive Visibility – Over 7 billion people could see it, making it a truly global event.
  2. Cultural Significance – Ancient civilizations often saw Blood Moons as omens. Today, they’re celebrated as cosmic spectacles.
  3. Photography Heaven – From Delhi to Sydney, social media was flooded with glowing moon shots that captured the rare beauty.

How Indians Witnessed the Eclipse

In India, the eclipse began around 7:15 PM IST and reached its full glory by 9:00 PM IST. Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, and Kolkata witnessed the moon glowing in coppery shades—prompting people to gather on rooftops and open grounds.

What We Can Learn from a Blood Moon ?

Events like these remind us of two powerful truths:

  • Unity in Wonder: No matter where we live, the same sky connects us all.
  • Patience & Perspective: Just like the phases of the moon, life has cycles—darkness doesn’t last forever, and beauty often follows.

Share one of the best gifts you’ve ever received.

“Aham Brahmasmi” (??? ???????????) – “I am the divine, and the divine is within me.”

Life is not just an existence—it is a sacred gift from Brahman, the Supreme Consciousness. Every breath we take is a blessing from the divine forces of the universe. Yet, how often do we pause to acknowledge this divine gift?

According to the Vedas, human birth is the rarest of all and the greatest opportunity to attain moksha (liberation). The Bhagavad Gita (7.3) states:

“Manushyanam sahasreshu kashcid yatati siddhaye” (Among thousands of men, only one strives for perfection).”

This means that our birth is not random—it is a divine chance to rise, learn, and grow. It is not merely a biological event but a soul’s journey towards enlightenment.

The Gift We Often Overlook

“Janma dukham, jara dukham, jaya dukham punah punah”
(Birth, old age, and death are inevitable, yet we are blessed with the ability to transcend them.)

We often chase material possessions, worrying about the past and the future, but forget the miracle of the present moment. Hindu philosophy teaches us that this life is an opportunity—to uplift our souls, to serve dharma, and to experience the divine play of the universe (Leela).

Why do we take life for granted? Because we forget that every sunrise is Surya Deva’s blessing, every breath is given by Vayu Deva, and our existence itself is sustained by Prithvi Mata (Mother Earth).

The Upanishads remind us:

“Tat Tvam Asi” (??? ????? ???) – “You are That.”

You are not just flesh and bones—you are a spark of the infinite cosmos. Recognizing this truth is the highest form of gratitude.

Gratitude: The Path to Abundance (Inspired by The Secret and Hindu Wisdom)

The modern concept of The Secret and the Law of Attraction is deeply rooted in Hindu spiritual wisdom. The Yajur Veda declares:

“Tena tyaktena bhunjitha” (By renouncing attachment, one enjoys everything in its true essence.)

This means that when we let go of complaints and embrace gratitude, we unlock abundance, peace, and divine grace. The Bhagavad Gita (2.47) reinforces this:

“Karmanye vadhikaraste, ma phaleshu kadachana”
(You have the right to perform your duty, but never to the fruits of your actions.)

Gratitude is not just saying thank you—it is a way of life. When we acknowledge life’s blessings, the universe returns them a hundredfold.

Ways to Honor the Divine Gift of Life

1?? Wake up with Gratitude (Pratah Smaranam)
Before stepping out of bed, recite:
“Karagre vasate Lakshmi, Karamadhye Saraswati, Karamoole tu Govinda”
(Goddess Lakshmi resides in my hands, knowledge in my palms, and Govinda at my base.)

This reminds us that our actions are divinely guided.

2?? Serve Others (Seva & Karuna)
True gratitude is shown through selfless service (seva). Help those in need, support dharma, and radiate kindness.

3?? See Divinity in Everything
In Hindu philosophy, everything is God—the trees (Vriksha Deva), rivers (Ganga Mata), and even our thoughts (Manas). Recognizing this fosters deep gratitude.

4?? Embrace Challenges (Karma Yoga)
Difficulties are not punishments; they are lessons from past karma. The Bhagavad Gita (6.5) teaches:

“Uddhared atmanatmanam, na atmanam avasadayet”
(Lift yourself with your own mind, never degrade yourself.)

5?? Live with Dharma (Righteousness)
Following the path of righteousness aligns us with the divine plan. Live with honesty, kindness, and devotion, and life itself becomes a blessing.

Final Thoughts: A Sacred Gift Beyond Measure

“Jeevanam sarvesham dhanam” (Life is the greatest wealth of all.)

You don’t need to search for the perfect gift—you already possess it. Your atma (soul) is eternal, blessed by the divine. Every day is a new chance to create, love, and transform.

What will you do with this sacred gift?

Drop a comment and share one thing you’re grateful for today. Let’s cultivate gratitude together and honor this divine blessing.

Why do you blog?

Answering this question is like why I Breathe?

Blogging is not just a hobby; it has become an integral part of who I am. It’s like the very breath I take, the beating of my heart, the essence of my existence. Every day, without fail, I find myself drawn to my keyboard, eager to pour out my thoughts, ideas, and experiences. It’s as if the act of blogging has become as natural and essential as living itself.

When I started blogging, I did it out of curiosity—a simple experiment to see if I could maintain a consistent writing habit. But over time, it evolved into something much deeper. Now, it’s a daily routine, as ingrained in my life as brushing my teeth or having my morning coffee. It’s not just about sharing knowledge or connecting with others, though that’s a big part of it. It’s also about the personal satisfaction that comes from creating something unique every day.

Every post I write is a reflection of my thoughts and emotions, a snapshot of where I am in my life at that particular moment. It’s cathartic, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. I can’t imagine a day without it. In a way, blogging is how I live my life with purpose—documenting my journey, one post at a time.

For those who might be wondering what keeps me going, I invite you to explore more of my thoughts on this topic in a post I wrote earlier on Telecolumnist.com. There, I delve deeper into the motivations behind why I continue to blog and what drives me to keep sharing my voice with the world.

So, that’s it. Blogging is my lifeline, my daily ritual, and my way of staying connected—to myself and to you.

What is a word you feel that too many people use?

In the world of language, certain words capture the zeitgeist and become ubiquitous. Whether it’s “awesome,” “epic,” or the latest slang, some words get used so often that they start to lose their impact. One word that has undergone this transformation in recent years is “literally.” Originally meant to convey something that is true in a literal sense, “literally” has evolved—or devolved—into a word often used for hyperbole, exaggeration, or even in contexts where it doesn’t belong at all.

The Original Meaning of “Literally”

The word “literally” has its roots in the Latin word literalis, which means “according to the letter.” Traditionally, “literally” was used to emphasize that something was true in the most strict sense of the word. For example, if someone said, “The lake was so cold it literally froze over,” they would be indicating that the lake had actually turned to ice.

For centuries, “literally” was a word reserved for those who wanted to be clear and precise. It was the go-to word for academics, scientists, and those who took great care in their speech. However, as language evolves, so too do the meanings and uses of words.

The Shift: From Precision to Hyperbole

Somewhere along the line, “literally” began to take on a new role in everyday language. It started to appear in sentences that were far from literal. For instance, “I was so hungry, I could literally eat a horse,” or “That movie was so funny, I literally died laughing.” Obviously, the person didn’t eat a horse or die from laughter, but the word “literally” was being used to add emphasis.

This shift in usage is fascinating because it goes against the original intent of the word. Rather than indicating that something is strictly true, it began to be used in situations where the speaker wanted to amplify their point—often in an exaggerated or non-literal way.

Why Do We Overuse “Literally”?

The overuse of “literally” can be attributed to several factors. First, it has become a linguistic crutch for people who want to add weight to their statements. In a world where everyone is vying for attention, using “literally” can make a statement sound more dramatic or urgent.

Second, the rise of social media and online communication has contributed to the spread of hyperbolic language. On platforms like Twitter, where brevity is key, users often employ “literally” to make their tweets more impactful. Over time, this usage has spilled over into everyday conversation.

Lastly, the trend of exaggeration in language is not new. English speakers have always enjoyed playing with words to create more vivid and expressive sentences. “Literally” is just the latest word to be caught up in this trend.

The Impact of Overusing “Literally”

The overuse of “literally” has sparked debates among language purists and casual speakers alike. Some argue that the word has lost its meaning, and its constant misuse is a sign of linguistic decay. Others believe that language is fluid, and the new use of “literally” is just another example of how English adapts to cultural changes.

One potential downside of overusing “literally” is that it can lead to confusion. If someone says, “I literally can’t even,” does that mean they actually can’t do something, or are they simply expressing frustration? The blurring of the line between literal and figurative speech can make it harder for listeners to understand the true intent of a statement.

Moreover, relying too heavily on “literally” can weaken a speaker’s credibility. When words lose their impact through overuse, the speaker might come across as less articulate or even untrustworthy. In situations where precision is important, such as in professional settings, the misuse of “literally” could have negative consequences.

Literally

How to Break the Habit

If you find yourself overusing “literally,” you’re not alone. The first step to breaking the habit is to become more aware of how and when you use the word. Pay attention to your speech patterns and notice if you’re using “literally” in situations where it’s not needed.

Consider replacing “literally” with other words or phrases that convey the same level of emphasis without distorting the meaning. For example, instead of saying, “I literally can’t believe it,” you could say, “I absolutely can’t believe it,” or “It’s hard to believe.”

Another strategy is to embrace more precise language. Instead of relying on “literally” to make a point, try to describe your experience in a way that paints a clear picture for your audience. If you feel like you “literally died” from laughter, perhaps saying, “I was laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes,” would be more accurate and engaging.

The Evolution of Language

The changing use of “literally” is a reminder that language is constantly evolving. Words shift in meaning and usage over time, often in ways that reflect cultural trends. While some may lament the loss of precision in the word “literally,” others see it as a natural progression in the way we communicate.

In the end, language is a tool that we use to express ourselves, and tools are shaped by the needs of those who use them. If “literally” helps people convey their emotions or experiences more effectively, then its new usage will likely persist. However, that doesn’t mean we should abandon all standards of precision. Knowing when to use “literally” in its true sense and when to opt for a different word is a skill that can enhance both our spoken and written communication.

Conclusion: Mind Your Words

In an age where words are constantly evolving, it’s important to be mindful of how we use them. The word “literally” has undergone a significant transformation, and its overuse has sparked debate among linguists and casual speakers alike. Whether you view the shift as a sign of linguistic decay or simply the natural evolution of language, one thing is clear: words matter.

By being more conscious of our word choices, we can communicate more effectively and avoid the pitfalls of overused phrases. So the next time you feel the urge to say “literally,” take a moment to consider if there’s a better way to express your thoughts. After all, language is a powerful tool—let’s use it wisely.

Keyword Density Considerations:

In this post, I’ve used the keyword “literally” strategically throughout the text to ensure proper SEO keyword density without overstuffing. It’s naturally woven into the content to maintain engagement and readability, which is crucial for both user experience and search engine ranking. By striking the right balance, the post is optimized for search engines while still being informative and enjoyable for readers.
